Desiring to pursue his interest in instrumental music and improvisation in a Christian environment, he decided to attend Okalahoma Baptist University and major in Church music. His desire to continue playing creative music and jazz led him to North Texas State University, where he hoped to find like-minded Christian musicians. Upon arrival in Denton, Pete switched from playing the trumpet to the saxophone. He began playing professionally in the Dallas area, and has continued to do so for many years. He has found it very fulfilling to be a part of several worship teams over the years. To be able to apply the years of study and practice in this very personal and expressive style of playing, and to be able to create music for the Lord through worship music has been spiritually and artistically fulfilling. God’s love and faithfulness to Pete was never more apparent than in a 2 year period when he was unable to play his instrument or have job due to tendonitis. Faith in God’s love and the support and love from his family and friends helped him through this difficult time.
Pete is blessed to be married to his sweet wife, Rebekah, and they have two sweet children, Sarah 6, and Mica 3. His interests include basketball (the Tarheels), tennis, and keeping up with his little ones. Pete performs regularly in the Dallas area with his jazz group and teaches saxophone lessons. He plays at First Baptist Colleyville and Daystar Television network.
