Daystar has been involved with the addition of the new Trauma and Rehabilitation Center at the Assaf Harofeh Medical Center since March 2008. To date, it is 80% complete and well on its way to providing care and medical services to the wonderful people of Central Israel. Because of our generous partners and friends, Daystar has been able to donate over $1 million to this worthy cause. We are honored to stand with the millions of Christians worldwide in love and solidarity to Israel and her people.
Specifically, the Spine Unit which is located in the Yitzhak Shamir Orthopedic and Trauma Center will serve as a frontline center for civilian victims of terrorist attacks. The level 1 Trauma center will offer comprehensive, modern medical care with state-of-the-art equipment, technology and the most highly trained specialists in the world. The Spine Unit will have a gross surface of approximately 340 square meters and it will be located inside the shelter area. It will be separated from the rest of the In-Patients’ rooms by a sliding door to prevent contamination. The unit will be able to hospitalize up to 10 patients at a time. The Spine Unit, headed by Professor Yigal Mirovsky, is one of the leading spine units in Israel. It combines orthopedic spine specialists with neurosurgeons which will enable all varieties of spine surgery to be performed including: operations for trauma, tumors, degenerative diseases and deformities.
Assaf Harofeh Medical Center is one of the largest hospitals in Israel. The Acute Rehabilitation Department occupies the first floor and the Orthopedic A and B Departments occupy the second and third floors respectively. The Trauma center is divided into four units: The Spine Unit, Hand Surgery Unit, Foot surgery Unit and the Large Joints Unit.
